At the European House in Zagreb, on June 4, 2019, the Electoral Assembly of the Atlantic Council of Croatia (AVH) was held, after the former President, honorable professor Radovan Vukadinović PhD. With a minute of silence that paid tribute to the late president, the session was opened and the working bodies of the Assembly were elected, after it was estrablished that the required quorum was met.
At the beginning, proposed were amendments to the Statute and unanimously adopted, which emphasized some of the goals and activities of the association. It was agreed to legally profile a working body as a committee, modeled on the concept of the Atlantic Treaty Association, headquartered in Brussels, which brings together all the Atlantic Councils around the world. Therefore, organized young people, who have been active in the Atlantic Council of Croatia and have created a network of young atlantists, both in the country and in the region and beyond, can now officially act under the name of Youth Atlantic Treaty Association (YATA) Croatia.
The Assembly was continued by the election of the management bodies of the association, and the then Vice-President of the Atlantic Council of Croatia Monika Begović PhD was elected to be the President. Begović has been an active member of the Atlantic Council of Croatia for more than 10 years, and acted as the Vice-President for almost 5 years, working and cooperating closely with Prof. Vukadinovic PhD and was working on the application and implementation of the projects, especially on the organization of the International Summer School Sipan, funded by NATO PDD. The elected vice-presidents are: Mladen Nakić PhD, also a longtime active member of AVH and a close associate of late Prof. Vukadinović, currently Assistant Minister of Administration, and a lecturer at the Libertas University, and Korina Vukadinović, Master of Law, who continues to develop as an expert in international relations through a postgraduate specialist study “Foreign Policy and Diplomacy”. Along with the President and Vice Presidents, elected members of the Steering Board are long-standing and well-respected active members of the Atlantic Council of Croatia: Prof. Boris Vucelić PhD and Katarina Milković MSc.
The chairmanship of the Youth council was also elected, in line with their commitment. For President of YATA Croatia Luka Jušić was elected, who is currently working in the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs and as his deputies Fabijan Popović and Valentino Petrović.
The newly elected President went through the report for the years 2018 and 2019 and the projects that were carried out, and of course the organization of the International Summer School Šipan, a project that is applied to NATO with a comprehensive project documentation. Project reporting and project management is done timely and without objection is accepted by NATO. President Begović pointed out the well updated web page and Facebook page of the Atlantic Council of Croatia (www.atlantic-council.com.hr; https://www.facebook.com/AtlanticCouncilofCroatia1/). It was adopted a proposal that the traditional International Summer School Sipan starts to be called International Summer School ‘Radovan Vukadinović’, in honor of the deceased professor, under whose leadership was so far held 17 summer schools, which helped in establishing a solid network of experts in the field of international relations and diplomacy from all around the world.
